|Wine: IRVINE SPRINGHILL MERLOT 2015|
|Region: Barossa / Eden Valley|
|Tasting Note: Blackberries and black plums entice the nose, but once opened up other aromas comes to the fore with hints of liquorice and maybe eucalyptus.
The palate is juicy and delivers more black plums, blackberries and even black cherries. There is the vaguest herbal note floating around. Tannins are obvious but not big and they politely request some form of protein to share with you. Acids can make or break a Merlot, if they are too big and rippy its all you really remember from the mouthful. In this case the acids are balanced and not too rippy. All in all, a juicy easy drinking Merlot.
If you want a cheeky Merlot then this is an easy go to, it needs food but if anything, the addition of protein will enhance the flavours even more.
