Jack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 (Coonawarra, SA)
Today’s wine is the Jack Estate Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2013 vintage.
It’s a wine that I am very excited about and want to share with as many people as possible.
I tasted it a few months ago at an industry tasting and have been looking forward to putting it in front of people ever since. Occasionally you go to a wine tasting and taste lots of wines and get nothing, get nothing, get nothing and then suddenly you taste a wine that makes you go wow that’s amazing and that’s how I discovered the Jack Estate.
It is classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and in saying that it’s got a beautiful – ever so slightly pretty nose – with a combination of blackcurrants, red fruit, olives and that mintiness that is really classic to the Coonawarra. On the palate it is just a rich opulent wine, lots of blackcurrants and plums coming through, hints of dirt, herbs and spices…a really beautiful wine that I think is great drinking now if you decant it and leave it open for a few hours, but otherwise if you put it down for a number of years it will pay you back in spades.
I want everybody to try this wine because it is just that good. And it’s got all those characters that you would normally go looking for in a $60 wine that you are getting for just over $20.
I would recommend this wine to anybody and I would also recommend people buying a dozen (drinking six and putting six down) and if you don’t like it I will give you your money back!
I’m Nigel; this has been wine talk…thanks for watching.
