A complex wine that offers great length, purity of flavour and a balance of acid which works subtly with the ever so slightly creamy texture offered by the barrel ferment. The nose offers a blend of brioche, green apples and white flowers. The palate is an evolution of citrus flavours, green apple and pine with an underlying hint of minerality. The effervescence continues down the glass and the mousse is soft and delicate.
Four generations of the same family have been Chef de Cave at Alfred Gratien, that inside knowledge and passage of winemaking from father to son pays huge dividends.
This is great wine, unsurprisingly so too are the other cuvées of Alfred Gratien.
The nose is moderately intense yet complex. The sweet pastry, biscuit and orchard fruit notes are followed and enhanced by hints of citrus, white flowers and fresh butter.
