Ellis Wines White Gold Viognier, aptly named having just collected Gold from the Heathcote Wine Show at time of writing.
Made in the drier Viognier style, with a colour of light gold the nose delights with aromas of unripe apricots and peaches, peach stones and spice.
The palate is dry and acids are crisp providing a great texture that is not oily. Flavours that dominate are tinned apricots in syrup, but with a dry finish this works really well almost driving you to the next glass.
This is a great easy drinking Viognier, good for someone who has not tried before. Any type of food works with this but I would hint at fresh grilled seafood and salad.
