Not being a huge fan of the Marlborough style Sauvignon Blanc, I am always in search of something that will convince me of the merits of Sauvignon Blanc as a variety. In tasting the 2018 10X Sauvignon Blanc I think I am on the right path.
Offering delicate indistinct aromas of white florals and citrus fruit it does not give much away.
The first mouthful could not be more different, a rich display of lemons, quince and honey, backed by lemon pith and a distinct minerality. Although driven by citrus and having a clear line of minerality down the middle there is a mouthfilling texture which evolves into this ever so slight chalkiness on the finish. A great wine that will match food, be it seafood, salad or something creamier. Honestly I could have been drinking Soave.
